The Hive Buzz - Welcome Maxine O'Leary

The Hive Team is Growing!!!

Dallen, Robin, Ben, and Karen are delighted to welcome Maxine O’Leary to the Hive as our social media expert. You may have already enjoyed some posts and graphics produced by the talented lock.

O’Leary’s rugby experience is vast; she played U16 and U17 for BC Rugby and North Vancouver Island Tsunami, and many years for the

Piggies and Cowichan Secondary as well. While she does have aspirations to play at a higher level, she’s taking it one day at a time after suffering a major injury just at the start of the pandemic.

Currently a Class of ‘24 student and rugby player at Concordia University, Maxine’s major is – appropriately – Communications. She brings her expertise to both the Rugby Hive and MacDowell Rugby where she is busy fulfilling the same role and making the great rugby news shared across all platforms pop.

Of the opportunity, O’Leary says: “I am honoured to have the opportunity to work with the Rugby Hive team to continue to grow the game and to help The Hive grow their presence on social media around the world, and I’m especially thankful to have this opportunity at such a young age.” Growing alongside The Rugby Hive is a once in a lifetime chance that O’Leary is excited by.

MacDowell is pleased with what Maxine brings to the team. He says: “we are thrilled to welcome Maxine to the Hive Family! I’ve had the opportunity to work with Maxine, first as an athlete at my camps when she was younger, and now to see her progress through to a successful Varsity Athlete with the Concordia Stingers while also excelling with her academics is no surprise! Maxine is helping support our crew as well as polish our Legendary content going forward.”

Welcome to The Hive, Maxine!
